What happened
Ice hockey first appeared at the Olympics during the 1920 Summer Games in Antwerp, played April 23 to 29 at the Palais de Glace d'Anvers. The tournament also counted as the first World Championship.
Canada sent the Winnipeg Falcons, who won the gold medal game 12-1 over Sweden. The Bergvall system then ran separate games for silver and bronze: the United States took silver and Czechoslovakia bronze.
The game looked different: natural ice, no forward passes, a 56 by 18 meter rink built for figure skating, two 20 minute periods and seven players a side, the extra one a rover.
