What happened

The NHL did not pause its season for Pyeongchang 2018, so teams were built from players outside the league. Games were played in Gangneung at the Gangneung Hockey Centre and Kwandong Hockey Centre.

Germany led the final 3-2 late in the third period. The Olympic Athletes from Russia tied it with 56 seconds left while short handed and won 4-3 on Kirill Kaprizov's power play goal in overtime. Germany's silver was its best Olympic result. Canada beat the Czech Republic 6-4 for bronze.
